Polyethylene output in Russia rises 11.3% in September
5 Nov 2026
Russian producers made 318 thousand tonnes of polyethylene in September — 11.3% more than a year earlier. The Rosstat statistics were published by RUPEC, 29 October 2026.
In September, Russian output of plastics in primary forms reached 890 thousand tonnes, up 7.5% on the same month of last year. Polyethylene grew faster: production came to 318 thousand tonnes, an increase of 11.3%. These figures are given in the RUPEC report of 29 October 2026, which cites Rosstat.
Trends for other materials were mixed. PVC output rose 14.9% to 76.8 thousand tonnes, and polystyrene output rose 14.5% to 34.2 thousand tonnes. At the same time, polyamide production fell 10.7% to 6.9 thousand tonnes. All changes are compared with the same month of the previous year. The source of this data is the same RUPEC publication of 29 October 2026.
Editorial conclusion
For manufacturers of film, bags and injection-moulded products, the statistics are a reason to check with suppliers whether the grades they need are available. Higher total output does not in itself prove lower purchase prices or the appearance of uncommitted batches of film-grade resin.
