Which Bag-Making Machine to Choose: HS-1200T or a Roll Line

Which Bag-Making Machine to Choose: HS-1200T or a Roll Line

A "universal machine for T-shirt bags and trash rolls" sounds convenient in an advertisement. On the shop floor these are two different units: a different seal, a different length, a different winding. Below is which equipment covers which task and why it is better to buy it not "from a trade-show stand" but with commissioning, a spare parts kit and a Russian-language menu.

In brief: a checkout T-shirt bag in a stack is the two-lane HS-1200T. A large bag on a roll with a star bottom and C-fold is a different class; in the catalog this is the C-F folding automatic machine and JDSL-1100. The JDMR-1200 model, which is often placed alongside in inquiries, belongs to the second class: we have no separate listing under this index, and the working substitutes are these two items.

The full range is in the bag-making machine catalog.

What we are comparing

T-shirt bag in a stack Roll with a star seal / C-fold
Typical task Checkout, market, HoReCa, pickup points Utilities, packing, large sacks
Seal and unit Bottom seal + handle die-cut + heated needles Star or straight bottom seal + folding + perforation
Common size 24×44, 28×50, 30×60 cm Length often 500–2000 mm
Speed in the catalog 100–350 pcs/min per lane 60–150 pcs/min
Working example HS-1200T, HS-1000T C-F folding, JDSL-1100, JDDH-450×2
What not to expect A long roll and a star seal on the same knife A checkout T-shirt bag with die-cut on the same winding unit

If one specification calls for both a "28×50 T-shirt bag" and a "1200 mm star seal", that is two machines. They can be combined only at the price of changeover and loss of the rated speed.

HS-1200T — if you need T-shirt bags in a stack

HS-1200T is a fully automatic two-lane machine for T-shirt bags. The listing states:

  • width 180–500 mm × 2;
  • length 280–800 mm × 2;
  • speed about 100–350 pcs/min per lane;
  • film line speed up to 150 m/min;
  • thickness 0.01–0.05 mm;
  • dimensions about 6800×1700×1800 mm, weight about 2700 kg.

This is a working format for the common 28×50 and 30×60 T-shirt bags. Two lanes, servo drives, edge control, heat sealing and heat cutting, stack take-off. On a live launch of this same model the electronics and motors were INOVANCE, controlled from a touch panel; a breakdown of the launch is in the case study on high-speed T-shirt bags.

The factory range of the closely related Wenzhou High Sea model (HSGN-450X2) is narrower: width 200–400 mm, length 330–650 mm, 100–300 pcs/min per lane, film 10–35 µm, power about 12.5 kW. In your calculations, do not assume the peak of "350×2 around the clock", but 55–70% of the rated figure on thin colored film over two shifts.

When the 1200 is better than neighboring items of the same class:

  • versus HS-1000T — a wider field: up to 500 mm × 2 versus 410 mm × 2. If your main size is 30×60 and you need width reserve straight away, take the 1200;
  • versus the semi-automatic PLAS ALLIANCE PL24P30-V — a different volume. The semi-automatic covers small output. A two-lane automatic makes sense when the line must produce hundreds of thousands of bags a month without manually stacking each pack;
  • versus JDAP-400×2 — a different product. The JDAP makes T-shirt bags and packing bags on a roll on a core. The HS-1200T delivers T-shirt bags in stacks with handle die-cutting.

JDMR-1200 class — if you need a roll with a star seal

The JDMR-1200 is not in the open Plastic Expert catalog. According to sellers' inquiries, it is an automatic machine for bags with a star-seal bottom, double side folding and C-fold: length 500–2000 mm, speed 60–150 pcs/min. It is not a checkout T-shirt bag but a large roll sack.

Live items of the same class:

  • automatic machine for bags on a roll with C-F folding — length 100–1200 mm, 60–150 pcs/min, star-seal bottom or straight seal, two edge controls per lane, HDPE 0.01–0.05 mm;
  • JDSL-1100 — trash bags on a roll folded in four, length 500–3000 mm, speed 60–150 pcs/min, line speed up to 140 m/min;
  • JDDH-450×2 — trash and packing bags on a roll with perforation, two lanes, no core;
  • JDFD-1000 — single-lane trash bags with 4-fold.

The speed here is lower not because the machine is "weaker" but because the bag is longer and the folding unit is heavier. Output should be calculated in meters and tons, not in "pieces as with a T-shirt bag".

If you need a bottom seal without a star and without a T-shirt bag, see also CS1000-SWD / CS1300-SWD.

Which machine is better — without generalities

The better one is the one that matches the bag, not the longest line in the brochure.

Choose the HS-1200T if:

  • your main SKU is a T-shirt bag in a stack, 24×44 / 28×50 / 30×60;
  • you need a die-cut handle and stack take-off;
  • you plan about a million bags a month on two shifts with a 60–70% utilization factor;
  • film — HDPE tubing, including recycled material, with a thickness in the working range of 10–35 µm.

Choose the JDMR / C-F / JDSL class if:

  • product — a roll, star-seal bottom, C-fold or four-fold folding;
  • bag length goes beyond 800 mm and up to 1200–2000 mm;
  • channel — utilities, large-volume packing, sacks, not a shop checkout.

Do not choose "one machine for everything" if both streams must run every day. Changing over the knife, sealing and winding eats up a shift. Two narrow machines are cheaper than one "universal" machine that holds neither format at its rated figures.

Do not put the rated speed into your P&L. The formula is simpler: pieces per month ≈ working speed × 60 × hours × shifts × days × 0.55…0.70. For a two-lane T-shirt bag line at 180 pcs/min per lane, two 7-hour shifts and 22 days with a 65% utilization factor, that is about 1.08 million pcs/month. On thin colored film the 350 pcs/min peak does not survive two shifts.

The main cost lever is not the servo drive but the film (60–75% in a thousand bags). A typical 28+14×50 cm T-shirt bag at 12–14 µm weighs around 3.2–3.5 g. +10 RUB/kg of HDPE adds roughly +35 RUB per 1,000 pieces. If you have no tubing of your own and the volume is already in tons, first look at the overview of blown film extruders — that is a different investment, 8–15 million RUB for a full cycle, not "adding a module to a bag machine".

Why it is better to buy the machine from Plastic Expert

The difference is not that "we are the only ones who sell HS and JD". The difference is what happens after payment.

A supplier with a factory behind it, not correspondence with a marketplace. Plastic Expert works directly with the Jiade (China) and Candar Makina (Turkey) factories. Some of the roll and "star-seal" machines in the catalog are precisely the Jiade factory range. A middleman from a classified ad disappears after shipment. We stay for commissioning, spare parts and warranty.

Russian-language menu, 380 V, commissioning and training. The equipment is localized into Russian, and commissioning and operator training are included in the scope of supply. At acceptance this matters more than another +50 pcs/min in a PDF: the operator must go through bag length, die-cut, emergency stop and roll change without a translator in a chat.

A live launch of the same T-shirt bag line. For the HS-1200T there is already a documented case study: not a brochure, but a line that reached volume. That is a different conversation from "a machine like in the photo, specifications negotiable".

Spare parts and service, not "you will find them on 1688". Knives, heating elements, belts and the controller should be written into the contract, not sought three months later. Plus leasing and trade-in if you are replacing old converting equipment rather than building a shop from scratch. Delivery time in the working scheme is up to 50 days, warranty up to 24 months, warehouses in several cities, including Azov.

A test run on your film, not someone else's. Before payment it makes sense to record in the contract: bag type, size, thickness and a test run on your tubing. A cheap "as is" contract often means you accept the length and seal on the factory's roll, while your own colored recycled material behaves differently.

What we do not promise in this article: "the best machine in the world" and payback in three months. We calculate the task, the format and the supply scheme.

What to check before payment

  1. One task in the specification, not two. T-shirt bags in stacks and a roll with a star seal are different machines.
  2. The speed in the contract is the working speed at your thickness, not the rated peak.
  3. Configuration: servo, EPC, Russian interface, 380 V, spare parts kit, diagram.
  4. A test run on your film: length, seal, die-cut or perforation, count of stacks/turns, emergency stop.
  5. Who will come for commissioning and what training includes. A wording like "supervised installation on request" without a date is not commissioning.
  6. Currency clause if the contract is in yuan: 30–60 days of production easily eat up the exchange rate.
  7. Stabilizer and UPS. "The controller won't turn on" is the dullest and most frequent story with a cheap connection.

Delivery from China in practice is often 45–75 days: 15–30 days of production plus 20–45 days in transit. Every month of downtime is rent and deferred output, not "let's wait for the drawings".

If you need a calculation for a specific size and film — leave a request or choose a model in the catalog. For T-shirt bags, start with the HS-1200T. For a roll with a star seal, start with C-F folding and the JDSL-1100. Not with one "universal" knife.

Frequently asked questions

Which bag-making machine is better to buy — the HS-1200T or the JDMR-1200?

For T-shirt bags in a stack — the HS-1200T. For a roll with a star seal and C-fold — the JDMR class; in the catalog these are C-F folding and the JDSL-1100. They are not two names for one machine.

How is the HS-1200T better than the HS-1000T?

Same class, different width. The 1200 listing gives up to 500 mm × 2, the 1000 up to 410 mm × 2. If your main bag is wide, you need the width reserve right away.

Can one machine make both T-shirt bags and star-seal sacks?

Technically, separate "universal" machines exist. At steady volume these are different seals, folding and winding. For daily output of both formats, two lines are installed.

Why not buy the same machine directly from a marketplace?

You can. Then commissioning, the Russian menu, spare parts and a warranty engineer become your own separate task. With us they are part of the supply, not correspondence with the factory after prepayment.

How much does a working T-shirt bag line cost?

A Chinese or Russian turnkey machine without an extruder usually works out from about 2–2.5 million RUB including delivery and commissioning. The final figure depends on the number of lanes, servo drives and configuration. The figure is a guideline, not an offer.
