Compressors and vacuum equipment

Screw and piston air compressors, vacuum pumps, air dryers, filters and receivers for plants where compressed air and vacuum are working media of the equipment.

In plastics processing, compressed air drives the pneumatics of injection molding machines, preform blowing and part ejection, pneumatic conveying of pellets and the air knives of extrusion lines and bag-making machines. Vacuum is used for melt degassing, pipe and profile calibration, vacuum loading of raw material and forming.

What the section includes

• Screw air compressors 7.5–450 kW: variable speed with permanent magnet motors, oil-free, low-pressure and direct-drive units.
• Piston air compressors 0.75–45 kW: tank-mounted, two-stage 12.5 bar, oil-free, 30 bar medium-pressure and petrol-driven units.
• Screw vacuum pumps 4–160 kW: oil-sealed and oil-free.
• Compressed air treatment: refrigerated and desiccant air dryers, line filters, water separators and air receivers.

How to size a compressor station

Start with the total air demand of all consumers and the pressure required at the point of use, plus a margin for pipeline losses. A variable speed compressor suits fluctuating demand, a direct-drive unit suits steady demand. PET bottle blowing, food and medical packaging require oil-free compression or multi-stage air treatment. Dryers and filters are sized to the compressor capacity and the required dew point.
